Leggings Outfits Three Ways to Wear

Friday Favorites: 2 Pieces x 6 Ways

It’s time for Friday Favorites today, and I’m talking about my favorite new tunic top. It’s perfect for pairing with leggings because of the length, plus the fact that it skims the body just right without being either tight or shapeless. I shared the burgundy version of this top in Wednesday’s post, and today I wanted to share six ways to wear the grey version! I think the grey is a little bit more versatile and neutral – it goes with just about any color of jacket! Since I specifically got this top for wearing with leggings, I decided to keep it simple here and use regular leggings for all of these outfits, hence the title of this post is two pieces (top + leggings) six ways. But of course, you can use black pants of any style you like to get the same look if you’re not into leggings.

Rust Jacket:

This rist jacket is my favorite purchase from Fall 2019, but even though it’s a fall hue I’ll keep wearing it straight on through winter. It’s by Marrakech from Evereve, and it just sold out during their winter clearance sale, but they have a fabulous similar option still in stock. Also, the tunic top and leggings that are in all photos here are true to size. I do find White House Black Market tops usually run a just tad bigger than tops from Express or LOFT. I typically wear XS or Small in those and took an XS in this. So if you’re between sizes I’d recommend going with the smaller size.

Neutral/Nude Jacket:

This faux leather jacket is an Express staple! The black option (below) has been around for 5+ years, but they come out with a few different/new additional colors each season. They do have a current option that’s similar to my neutral one here, though sizing is limited. I am sure they will be re-stocking more of these for Spring, and that’s when I tend to start reaching for this color more anyway. But I thought I’d try styling this tunic + leggings combo with a lighter neutral to see how it looked, and I liked it!

Camo Jacket:

I debated whether to to do a regular olive utility jacket here or a camo jacket for this look, but camo won out just because my camo jacket hasn’t been getting as much love lately. And I really liked the way this camo print seems to really tie the black/grey colors of the top and leggings together. But if you don’t have a camo jacket, a solid olive would work just as well here in my opinion.

Burgundy Velvet Jacket:

This exact jacket is still in stock and it’s such a great lounge/athleisure piece! It’s true to size and a velvet material which also happens to be very soft and smooth. I was initially going to do all of these outfits with the same black ankle boots, but when I put this jacket on I thought the outfit would make more sense with a different, more casual shoe. So I grabbed my wedge sneakers and voilà! This top + leggings take on a more athleisure vibe altogether!

Black Moto Jacket:

For these last two outfits, I wanted to make sure to use jackets that most women might already have in their wardrobes. I realize not everyone is quite as into collecting jackets in as many prints/colors as as I am, but a solid black moto and a denim jacket are pretty common wardrobe staples. And it just so happens they both work really well with this tunic top and leggings combo! This jacket is the same exact style as the neutral moto above, so it’s also true to size. Since I had already broken away from the black boots for the previous look, I opted to change again to tall taupe boots here. I thought it kept the outfit from being too monochromatic and dark (for my tastes) overall.

Denim Jacket:

And last but not least, a basic denim jacket! You know, I like how this one looks from the to, but in the front view below I am wondering if a darker denim jacket would have worked better. There isn’t a lot of contrast between the top and jacket below, so it doesn’t look as interesting to me as some of the other combinations. The nice natural lighting above helps it stand out a little more than it might in a normal/indoor setting. I shared the burgundy version of this top with a denim jacket in Wednesday’s post and I do think that color pops a little better against this denim. That said, I still think this works as an easy, casual yet polished outfit!

And finally, here’s a front view recap of each of these outfits to give you a better idea of the fit and length on the jackets and tunic top For reference, I’m 5’4″ if you want to mentally adjust the length according to your height:

Nails of the Week:
Just in case anyone was curious, I have CND Vinylux Masquerade on my nails in all photos above.

I hope your 2020 is off to a great start! I have really enjoyed the slower pace of the last two weeks and am having a little anxiety about getting back into the usual, more hectic routine. It’s similar to how I feel at the end of summer when the kids are getting ready to go back to school – it’s not the easiest adjustment, but it there’s no way around it. Thankfully I have two more weekend days ahead of me to get a few more things done before we go back to the grind. One of those things to do is writing a new post for Monday! I’ll be sharing some Amazon workwear try-ons so if you’re starting a new job or just needing a winter workwear refresh, I hope you’ll stop by and say hi!
